I'm not the biggest fan of sweets of donuts in general, but I decided to give this bakery a try based on numerous recommendations from friends and other travelers. We took an Uber there, which was convenient, but I noticed the parking could be a bit of a challenge since the parking area is quite small and limited. We arrived around 4PM after our late lunch, and it wasn't too crowded. We ordered the original custard and macadamia malasadas puffs. The cashiers were nice, patient, and gave us recommendations on the most popular flavors, which included custard, macadamia, and guava. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste! 1 malasada was enough for me, but I enjoyed that it was not overly sweet. I'm looking forward to my next visit here - I will try the guava malasada!

Finally tried the famous Leonard's! This is a casual take out spot for warm pillowy soft doughy donuts! The experience and service was fast and easy - you order inside and then go outside to get your order where they call your name. We got: * cinnamon dusted Malasada - delicious and flavorful my hubby gobbled this up *macademia nut cream filled malasada - this was delicious and full of a yummy cream, this one was my favorite! Overall great experience to try out!

Tip: order ahead online. You have to order a minimum of a dozen if you order ahead though. The malsadas taste very good when they're fresh. Make sure to look at the daily special flavor. When my family went the special was guava. Leonard's had better malsadas than another place at the mall nearby.

THESE WERE TOO GOOD!! Seriously makes me sad thinking about how we don't have any malasadas this good and fresh back home... they were so airy, pillowy, and warm. We got one of each malasada puff filling and my favorites were the custard, haupia, and macadamia nut! The fillings were not too sweet either! Decently priced too. This is a must stop if you're ever on the island! Lines can get long at times, but really depends when you go!

Solid, but overrated. Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 4/5** The ordering experience, wait, and line/parking lot situation are all pretty chaotic. The fact that the malasadas didn't even end up being mind-blowing was a bit of a let down. **Taste of the food, 3.5/5** The malasadas are solid when eaten immediately, but they don't even hold up well a few hours later. While they have a lot of fun custard flavors, the flavors taste artificial which really takes away from the higher quality malasada itself. I feel like it'd be a better move for them to just have 2-3 other flavors, but focus on making the flavors better. Also minor issue, but they don't tell you which malasadas are which flavor, so it's a bit of a guessing game when you open up your box and have a bunch of identical donuts LOL. **Other notes** Parking is a mess and the ordering/waiting areas spill completely into the lot; park a few blocks away and walk over.

What can I say about Leonard's that hasn't already been expressed? Pillowy, sweet, fresh clouds of dough, reasoably priced and worth the wait. If I were gluten free, celiac, I'd still eat these, and happily meet St. Leonard at the pearly gates of Heaven. Yep, they're that good.

AMAZING MALASADAS!!! We arrived around 9:10am, and waited only about 15 minutes before placing and receiving our order. We got pao doce and a box of 13: original, cinnamon sugar, li hing (sweet and sour sugar) 2 custard, 2 macadamia nut, 2 guava, 2 peach, dobash (chocolate), and haupia (coconut). The pao doce was soft and reminded me of a brioche. The malasadas were hot, covered in sugar, and extremely pillowy and soft to the touch! The texture was super soft with a slight chew. I preferred the originals over the filled as they emphasized the texture of the dough more. While they were covered in sugar, they were not overly sweet. My favorite was the li hing--a good balance of sweet and savory. Overall, this place is worth the hype! I still think about the malasadas to this day and highly highly recommend coming here for anyone!

Great world renowed it seems Bakery that serves up some famous Malasadas. When traveling to Hawaii for my honeymoon, Foodie friends said this was not a place to pass, but plan penciling into the itinerary. When driving up to the exterior, it can visually put your thoughts into a flashy Vegas type casino sign, meets a classic old-school traditional bakery. So visually yes lives up to the hype. The inside isn't too big, more of walkup/in, place your order, and wait for your # to be called. All in all, the service was good, quick, and easy. The hardest part is picking what you want to try. That said, and knowing this might be the only time in this neighborhood for the trip, we opted for the half dozen to mix in the traditional with a few flavors. All were indeed very tasty, but buyer beware they are all very rich and creamy. Therefore, this Foodies advice is slow and steady, and don't carry your extras in the car for too long ;) All in all, it is a great tasty stop within our journey, or yours when exploring this fabulous island. :)
